man risks life by jumping traffic barrier

06 Oct 2012

A 61-year old man cheated death when he found himself in between two barriers of a level crossing with a train quickly approaching. The man fell in the middle of the tracks while Britain’s fastest train approached going at a speed of 40mph. The man managed to get himself up and missed being hit by the train by just a few inches. He was hauled over the barrier by an onlooker as the train passed. The incident took place at a crossing in Gillingham Kent in the afternoon on 21st September and caused the train driver to go off-duty as he was shaken up. The Javelin train is capable of reaching a speed of 140mph.
