A mother of two died on Tuesday morning in Chicago, Illinois after driving round a railroad crossing barrier, causing her minivan to be struck by a train. The mother had her two sons in the van, who were taken to hospital after the accident. She was pronounced dead on the scene after being struck by the train moving at 79 miles per hour. She drove round the closed gates and briefly stopped before being hit. The van was then dragged by the train before flipping and rolling over. An investigation has been launched to confirm that the train company (Metra Rock Island) nor the driver were to blame for the incident.
