new barriers are set to decrease sound for residents near motorway

02 Oct 2012

Some new sound barriers due to be installed on the M40 will cut noise for those who live locally, as well as increase electricity through built in solar panels.

The highway chiefs are constructing a plan to introduce the barriers after an action group won cash in order to help them start development of the idea.

There are around 20,000 residents who live close to the M40 who will be able to benefit from a more peaceful experience when at home in the future.

The M40 Chiltern Environmental Group is looking to have installed the barriers on about 6 miles of the motorway by 2016.

They won 10,000 to use towards the plan from Co-operative Group, who were on the hunt for green projects across the nation.
