Philadelphia Streets Department in the U.S did a presentation on Tuesday night regarding a proposal to replace a bridge that carries an avenue over a rail line. The presentation explained why the project, set to begin in 2014, intends to close the bridge for a year. Members of the Philadelphia Streets Department took the opportunity to propose 3 architectural options for the bridge electrification barrier. The bridge currently has a gun metal grey barrier and a pedestrian walkway that is raised above the road surface. The three possible designs for the future barrier include cedar board, lightweight concrete or painted steel. The different barrier options and their benefits were fully explained at the presentation.
