A 3.5 metre road barrier is to be erected around Backwell recycling centre in Nailsea, North Somerset in a bid to reduce the amount of noise pollution from the site. The metal barrier which is expected to cost £60,000, will be 100 metres long and go round part of the site to reduce the noise. Complaints regarding the noise coming from the tip have been coming from residents for several years. Sound checks have been carried out at the site by the Environment Agency during the past three years, all of which have revealed noise at excessive levels.
