Old metal barriers in Birmingham are to be used to help firefighters train for emergency situations. The company ‘Amey’ who provide maintenance work in partnership with Birmingham City Council to maintain the cities roads, has donated unwanted street furniture to allow West Midlands Fire Service to train their newly recruited firefighters. Fire Station Commander Lee Baker said that the donated items would be used specifically to improve the crashed vehicle training for firefighters. Some of the donated items included five metre sections of road traffic barriers and a selection of street and road posts.
