tennis player has run in with crowd control barrier

07 Jan 2013

The world’s number 1 tennis player, Novak Djokovic recently had an accident involving a crowd barrier last week . Djokovic was playing at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia when the incident occurred. He had just beaten Italy’s Andreas Seppi in straight sets when he decided to celebrate and go and sign autographs for fans around the court.     He went to one side of the court and started to sign a young fans book, when suddenly members of the crowd behind, started to push towards the star. This caused crowd members at the front to push onto the metal barriers which then fell in to Djokovic. He then grabbed his legs in pain where the crowd control barrier had hit and then slowly walked off court, clearly shaken up. The tennis number 1 had to cancel his post-match press conference and interviews while he received treatment. He managed to play later on in the day though, when he played a mixed doubles game.
